B.Bat Project is a research group at Butte Community College that wanted a series of vector logos that turned the college’s “Dash” road runner mascot into the Northern Californian long-eared bat, or “Myotis septentrionalis”. A native species of bat that found a home on the college campus’ wildlife refuge. The research project is facilitated by Shahroukh Mistry Ph.D., an educator at Butte Community College, Adjunct Professor at California State University, Chico, and current Board of Directors member for Bat Conservation International. Professor Shahroukh Mistry Ph.D is interested in a wide ranch of topics in biology but he has focused much of his time and interest on Bat Biology.

Together, students and professor Shahroukh Mistry Ph.D. research acoustic monitoring of bat diversity and activity in Northern California. Shahroukh helps students from Butte Community College and Chico State University with equipment usage, data collection, and assists them in publishing their research findings into scholarly articles. B.Bat Project will also travel occasionally to attend conventions on bat research.

I’m very grateful to have the opportunity to work with them. B.Bat Project helps propel student learning using hands-on experience. The new vectors are intended to be used as car stickers, t-shirts, and water bottles that will promote the research project around the college campus.
